At "I Love Books"(<http://ilx.wh3rd.net/thread.php?msgid=4446204>) and
Crooked Timber (<http://www.crookedtimber.org/archives/001627.html>), a
new parlor game: imagining the plots of two books combined. I'm not
crazy about every item in the lists but there are good ones.
Orwell-related entries incluide but are not limited to "On the Road to
Wigan Pier" and "Cold Comfort Animal Farm."
My own suggestions (I'm presuming essay titles are fair game):
"Keep the Fear of Aspidistra Flying": Misogynist advertising hack
abandons respectability for feminist voyage of sexual self-discovery.
Becomes a poet and a free woman.
"Inside the White Whale": Essayist considers the morality of quietism in
a world at war and declares marine mammals cannot remain neutral.
"The Moon And Sixpence Under Water": A driven man's quest for the
perfect pub takes him to the ends of the earth.
Your turn now.

Coming Up For Brideshead
A fop with false teeth from a rich catholic family seduces a fat insurance
salesman with a teddy bear who is looking for a small pond in the grounds of
Brideshead Castle.
A Handful of Boys' Weeklies.
Billy Bunter and Bob Cherry join an ill-fated expedition in the south
American jungle where they discover that Indian savages are just as beastly
as English schoolboys and that Dickens is a frightful bore.
Down and Out In the Heart of Darkness.
Orwell pursues Kurtz, a psychopathic plongeur, through the filthiest
kitchens in 20s Paris until he finds him committing the ultimate crime of
brewing tea in an enamel pot. >> Stay informed about: Two (or more) books at once |

LOL.
Tropic of Vache Enragee
Richard Grant and Uma Thurman forget what movie they're in. It ends badly with
samurai swords at the Quat'z Arts Ball.

We've also been speculating here about the works of John Updike Sinclair Lewis Carroll Oates
but can't come up with a plot that fits.

Jane Mansfield
The poor relation of a close-knit Northampton family is sent to a corrupt

Fate is teasing her because the wonderful place she dreamt of had an
uncanily similar name -- Hollywood.
