Hi all,

I saw this was a Bukowski group so I figured I'd peep in and see what's
going on. Name's Humpenfeld. I used to publish Hank's work in an old hippy
rag called "The Outcast" in the late 1970s. Now I work for an exclusive
talent agency in New York City and am working, with a few of my editors,
on coming up with a new anthology of what I call "prose poems." These are
poems written like stories, ala Bukowski, Carver, Jumpsuit Hawkins, Bly,
Creeley, so forth.

If interested in submitting, send me a line.

p.s. We are looking for serious poets ONLY. Those not serious about their
work need not apply. No grammatical errors, no typos, please!

I'm looking forward to speaking with you.

Do not pollute the sacred Buk newsgroup with crass plugs for worthless

Hello David... here's this week's episode, released just a few minutes
ago:

Now this is good. I'm going to have to run this by a few of my friends and
associates to see what they think. You see, the question is, will it play
in Peoria? Have you ever heard that expression? Anyway, if it won't, and I
can't do anything with it, we'll have to go back to square one. The thing
has to be marketable, Will. I can't say that enough. Know how to market
your goods (art). And keep abreast with the goings on in the marketplace.
We're looking objectivity. Subjectiveness doesn't sell. Otherwise, I think
we've got something here. I'll have to rear the hoop and bank it off my
cronies in our next think tank.

Keep it up, Will.

Best link I've seen on Usenet yet. Scotto's quite the character!

David

You snipped your "Revenge Of The Nam" poem... would you prefer to
submit "Pete The Dog"?

----
Pete The Dog

Pete the dog is gone from across the street.

He would accompany
anyone going for a walk.
It was like having a pet
without vet bills..

You could shoo him
from your compost bin
just by knocking on the window
and scowling..

Since his owners moved,
bunnies are munching
complacently on my chives;
there are deer droppings
in the backyard.

The police cruisers
and social workers' sedans
are never seen in the neighborhood anymore..

Pete the dog is gone from across the street.

-Gary Gamble

Heh.

Gamble could submit his "short listed" (at http://www.poetry.com) poem
"Regrets Of The Nam":

----
Searching over 5.1 million records... Please be Patient.

Name: Gary Gamble

Gamble, Gary
- Regrets of the Nam

Regrets of the Nam

Perhaps someday when honesty is closer, more evident,
Words will replace the thoughts and feelings, so prevalent.
For now, I am gone across a lonely, regretful brine,
To seek undaunted peacefulness for my troubled mind.
How despicable is a child man, to enhance wrath upon his quaker,
Knowing how frivolous he is upon his own chosen acre.
After so very long, my conscience is the stolid host,
Of afflictions imposed upon those I endeavored to care for most.
Let mankind be schooled, especially those deceived, heartless skeptics,
Love for your fellow man, why ever lost, is as a soul torn from life's epic.
The bitterness and regrets of war, beyond patriotic domestic integrity,
Is a sad legacy imposed on children by evil and greedy hypocrisy.
