I just finished reading an old ST original bock, "The IDIC Epidemic". Well,
one of the characters is a Klingon/Human young man. My question is this, in
STNG, Worf is supposed to be the first Klingon in Star Fleet. This
character had applied and was accepted to Star Fleet Academy and your
supposed to think he went, it never says if he did, only thought his
application was accepted. So, was Worf the first of this young man?

If there's a conflict between the show and a book, you gotta take the
show. They're the "official" word on everything.
Of course, you can do what fans do and explain it away. This young
man was only half-Klingon, so he doesn't count.

Or he applied, but never went for whatever reason.

The IDIC Epidemic was written, I think, *long ago*. Before TNG.

STTNG premiered in the fall of 1987 and the publication date of The
IDIC Epidemic (book number 3 was February 1988, so it was written
well before STTNG premiered.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Question |

Fall of 1987 is before February 1988. Did you mix up a number there?
Also, IIRC there is a sequel to The IDIC Epidemic.

It is no secret (nor should it come as any surprise) that humankind's most noble impulses often surface during the most tyring of times, that human spirit rises to the challenge when faced with adversity, that human strength is born from human failings...Is it any wonder, then, that the SDF-1 crew became a tighter family after the fortress had been exiled than it had been before?

When did I post that? Back in June, I think.
Fall 1987 is indeed before February 1988, but the book was written (I
didn't say "published") well before fall 1987. In those days, the lead
time from submission to publication was generally about sixteen months.
The IDIC Epidemic might have been turned in more than a year before
STTNG premiered. Even if the turnaround had been shorter, I don't
think there's any chance at all that the book was written before fall
1987.
My post was in response to Edward McArdle's correct observation that
the book was written before STTNG premiered. I merely provided
specifics.
I don't know anything about a sequel.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Question |
