Post subject: Question
Archived from groups: rec>arts>comics>marvel>xbooks (more info?)

Can anyone explain to me what is the point of starting a title over at #1
again such as Iron Man is going to be , Avengers etc..

Also what is the deal with these new 2099 series coming out. Hasn't this
been done 10 years ago and failed ?? Doom 2099 , Punisher 2099 etc... ??

The relaunch is supposed to provide greater exposure for the new creative teams
on these books, along with, naturally, better sales.

: Also what is the deal with these new 2099 series coming out.

They're not new series. They're just oneshot specials.

It's an ever-reliable way of boosting sales. And one of the less
damaging sales gimmicks, since at least it doesn't prejudice the actual
stories. I'll take a thousand issue #1 reboots in preference to a
line-wide crossover.

I'd take a thousane issue #1 reboots if it means we don't see the Immortal
Chinese Commie Villians Of Doom again.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

They weren't Commies, and they didn't appear to be government-sanctioned. Just
a group of Chinese with dillusions of grandeur.

They think renumbering makes for a better jumping on point than the original
numbering.
