Sad to see this wonderful newsgroup has far more spam and porn in it than
real posts.
I myself have been watching the newsgroup and reading for about a year. But
I started reading Mr Feist's books around 2000 when I first picked up
Krondor the Betrayal.
Since then I've read everything in a chronilogical order from Magician to
Price of the Blood. Just last week I've started into The King's Buccaneer.
I must say I love each one of Mr Feist's books, and it almost feels like one
very very large book because of how everything fits together.
I will say, that I'm not so happy that time in the books has flown past so
quickly. In Price of the Blood I found James and Locklear (to of my favorite
characters) had such minimal roles and were only there to help continue from
one generation to the next.
I'd also like to ask anyone who knows (Maybe Mr Feist himself, I've seen him
around this newsgroup once or twice) about the book that was ment to be
after The Kings Buccaneer. What would the storyline have been like? Is it
scratched all together or is there a chance of it being writen in the
future?

Hi, Christopher.
The book you're asking about was going to be called Return of the
Buccaneer. You can get some sense of what was going to be in it in the
scene in Shadow of a Dark Queen where Erik overhears Bobby and Nakor
talking on Sorcerer's Island.
Basically, the story would have acted as a bridge between the King's
Buccaneer and the Serpentwar Saga. It would have introduced Miranda,
Bobby, and featured Calis, as well as chronicaled the trip down to
Novidus.
The farther I get from that decision to not do the book (my new
publisher, Morrow/Avon wanted something that was clearly a "book 1" of
a new series), the less I regret having not done it.
It would have been a very dark story, and would have left the reader
with a lot of question marks. Miranda's history would not have been
provided, so she would have been a mystery for one extra book until
Rage. A lot of characters would have died, and mostly it would have
been a story of Calis and Bobby surviving a disaster, with very little
sense of triumph.
Anyway, that was quite a while back now, and I'm working on volume 1 of
The Darkwar Saga, Flight of the Nighthaws.

You heard about them in Shadow. They're "backstory" for the Serpentwar.
