With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is
worth reflecting on the death of a very important person which almost went
unnoticed last week. Larry La Prise, the man who wrote 'The Hokey Pokey,'
died peacefully at age 93.

The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They
put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.

The kids dance-song "The Hokey Pokey" goes

You put your left leg in, you put your left leg out,
you put your left leg in, then you shake it all about.
You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around,
and that's what it's all about.

<while singing the above with a group of people in a circle, you lift
your left leg and turn it towards the centre of the group, then
outwards, then in and shake. Putting both hands under your chin, sway
side to side, then turn around>

Repeat using right leg, left arm, right arm, head and 'whole self'.
Now imagine trying to put a corpse into a coffin while said corpse is
dancing the Hokey Pokey.
