I seem to be asking for a lot of advice lately. Here we go again. Anyone
here use Ebay regularly? Is it normal to get emails asking you to enter
your user id and password for a security check? Looks suspicious to me.

Yes , I am an Ebayer ....this is a scam. Foward the email to Ebay
and let them know.

Ebay will never email you and ask you for those details

What Melody said. I should have mentioned this before, actually, since
I saw something similar flagged up on another group - it's been going
on for a while now and I know a couple of people who've been caught
out by it.

Is also a problem with Paypal: I keep getting scam mails to the
address that I use with my Paypal account. This is pretty easy to do
really - the address is in all Paypal links, and since I actually use
the Paypal links, I can't really get rid of them...

hmm. I've got a paypal account too. I'll keep an eye out. I was pretty
sure the Ebay thing was a scam but wanted to be sure. It would be handy
if Ebay had an up-front warning about such things with and address to
contact, or report these things to. Still, one can't really blame them
for another's perfidy.

It's an odd thing - but although I've seen plenty of emails and posts here
and elsewhere from people reporting that they had received these scam emails
purporting to be from eBay and PayPal (now one and teh same), I've never
actually had one myself.

I'm starting to feel left out...

I just finished reading Snow White and the Seven Samurai, by the same
author. Kept me occupied (and sane) during a heat wave in which our
stupid compressor kept not coming on. I think we may just try the fans
in every room route, and bag the a/c. We can store the compressor in the
garage, and figure that if we ever sell the house, the new owners can
set it back up and have all the headaches. Me, I'd rather have a nice
frosty pitcher of lemonade (the real stuff, made with fresh lemons, and
sugar, and ice and water) and a good book.

Oh, and I really liked SWatSS, very funny.

I could forward some on to you if you really want... I get far too
many to miss a few[1]...

[1] 67 mails when I turned on PC yesterday. 2 weren't junk. Luckily,
the filters picked up all the junk and threw it away for me...
