Clive Barker is getting the opportunity to envision the TORTURED SOULS
movie for us. The horror novelist, whose last film directed was 1995's
LORD OF ILLUSIONS, will helm the movie based on the horrific action
figure line he created.

The movie is set up at Universal Pictures, and a script was commissioned
by Hans Rodionoff two years ago. In an article announcing Barker getting
the director's chair for the project, Rodionoff's script isn't
mentioned. Whether it remains or if a new script is being comissioned is
unclear.

The movie's premise follows a man who strikes a deal with a demon
goddess, transfering his spouce to a realm of otherworldly and
frightening creatures (pre sumably the tortured souls.) The woman must
somehow make her way back to the real world to save her daughter, still
with her husband, and to get rid of the demon who flung her into the
other realm.

Todd McFarlane, the owner of McFarlane Toys, the company that released
the initial line of figures, is onboard the film as a producer.
