Hey people,

This is just a simple drive-by posting. Just wanted to mention that I've
finished Magician, Silverthorne and A Darkness at Sethanon for the first
time today. Began reading a couple of weeks ago and have only stopped to
study for some exams. And, okay, to eat, sleep and talk to some actual
living breathing people from time to time as well.

A friend of mine recommended the books to me during a late-night talk
about, well, books, some time ago. And I haven't regretted starting the
read. The books were well-written, fast-paced and had great characters
(although I guess I'm kind of lecturing to the choir here). Before
starting with these books, I was reading Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time
series (currently paused the reading in book Cool and after the slooooow
way Jordan writes (although he doés create one hell of a story), I was
very pleasently surprised by these books.

I'm gonna be picking up some more of mr. Feists books pretty soon, after
I've finished reading the two other books still waiting for me on the
bookshelf ('The Sparrow' and 'Children of the Gods' by Mary Doria Russel
if anyone was wondering Wink). My question, though, is: can I now start
reading The Serpentwar Trilogy, or should I read other books first, to
optimally enjoy this whole world that REF has created?

Thanks in advance for your opinions

Well, I suppose the safest order is the publishing order, but as far as
I can tell there are plenty of alternate orders which do not spoil
anything. The people are crydee.com have three excellent reading order
lists, the most interesting in my opinion being this one:
http://blank.org/link/?q=1093211520

The prerequisite for reading the Serpentwar Trilogy is to have read
Krondor's Sons, which means:
Magician
Silverthorn
A Darkness at Sethanon
Prince of the Blood
The Kings Buccaneer

Hope that helps,

Hey, didn't expect to run into posters I actually know in here. But then
again, I guess it was you who directed me to here in that little dutch
newsgroup we both post in, right? Wink

Check. I see that Prince of the Blood and The Kings Buccaneer have also
been published before the books of the Serpentwar Saga. Hmm. I did plan
on reading them eventually, but seeing as I still have a lót of books
left to read, I thought I'd just move on to the next major trilogy for
now and read these two later. I guess this means I have to reconsider
those plans for now, since judging from Crydee.com it appears that it's
necessay to read these two to optimally enjoy the rest.

Ah, well, I guess that just means I have to go and put two more books on
my ever growing 'to read' pile...

Yep, it did. Although I'm still kinda thinking 'nah, maybe it'll be okay
to just read The Serpentwar Saga for now', but that's probably just my
semi-rebellious nature shining through :-p

Don't. You could skip Prince of the Blood without losing too much (although
the introduction of a major character is quite important) but King's
Bucanneer is a must to set up for the Serpentwar IMO.
