When I glanced at the "new" version, I noticed there was more material
than the first edition I bought back in 1975. Do you have the earlier
edition? I'm curious about what was added to it. Maybe another old
timer can answer this, since I doubt I'll be getting the 1981 revision
anytime soon.

And I bought a paper back copy in London three years ago.

The 1971 edition had 157 pages; the 1981 had 222 and so was some 40 percent
larger.

Most of the new material was accounted for by the discovery of a Prologue to
his autobiography which Neal had written, describing the life of his mother
and father before he himself was born.

Also, a more complete version of Neal's "First Third" manuscript was
recovered, including his own hand-written revisions, as described in an
Afterword by Carolyn Cassady, and both were used in the 1981 edition.

has the collected letters (Cassady) been moved up to July? I back
ordered it on Amazon.com and I keep wondering (and looking forward) as
to its arrival. THANKS.
