I'm replying to Purrt's message, but I have read all your good wishes
and thank you for them!
It was quick. It was peaceful. It was not unexpected. And it was
still awful.
Fortunately for me, Mom waited until DH could get there. After two
days of wondering if each breath would be her last, I couldn't take
the last few minutes and left the room. He stroked her hair and told
her we loved her and always would. She was gone in minutes after
that. Since it was hospice there was no mad rush to do something,
and, we, and all her caregivers, took what time we needed for tears
and hugs and saying goodbye. Then her pastor came and performed the
prayers for the dead. (Ceremonies are such wonderful things.)
The funeral home came with a stretcher - but they used linen and a
quilt to take her. Wasn't that nice? (I was dreading the thought fo
a body bag.)
Anyway the funeral is Tuesday evening, and we are home preparing.
We've been finding some wonderful pictures of Mom in better days to
put up for the ceremony.
Thanks again for all your good wishes and thoughts.
Love you guys!
