I'm off tomorrow to spend my Mom's last days with her. She's in
Hospice care now and not expected to last more than a few days.

I will return when she is put to rest and her affairs wound up.

I know I have your good thoughts.

Always,

Of course you have them...and so does your mother. I went through the
same situation thirty years ago this summer -- although in a hospital
setting rather than a hospice -- and I know something of how you are
feeling.

If she's alert and won't be confused by references to people she's
never met, tell her we're keeping her in our prayers. You're
"family" here, and by extension so is your RL family.

As always in situations like this, an unlimited supply of

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{ H U G Z }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

is available at your nearest newsgroup client.

<hugs> I'm sorry you have to face this. My own Mum's death was one of
the hardest things I've ever dealt with.

I'll be holding you close to my heart over the next couple of weeks.

I'm replying to Purrt's message, but I have read all your good wishes
and thank you for them!

It was quick. It was peaceful. It was not unexpected. And it was
still awful.

Fortunately for me, Mom waited until DH could get there. After two
days of wondering if each breath would be her last, I couldn't take
the last few minutes and left the room. He stroked her hair and told
her we loved her and always would. She was gone in minutes after
that. Since it was hospice there was no mad rush to do something,
and, we, and all her caregivers, took what time we needed for tears
and hugs and saying goodbye. Then her pastor came and performed the
prayers for the dead. (Ceremonies are such wonderful things.)

The funeral home came with a stretcher - but they used linen and a
quilt to take her. Wasn't that nice? (I was dreading the thought fo
a body bag.)

Anyway the funeral is Tuesday evening, and we are home preparing.
We've been finding some wonderful pictures of Mom in better days to
put up for the ceremony.

Thanks again for all your good wishes and thoughts.

Love you guys!

My thoughts are with you. It's never easy losing someone close, and it's
harder still when it's family. Remember all the good times and you'll
always have happy thoughts about her.
