I just learned last night that I have a new (12-days old) great-nephew.
Unfortunately, Zachary, was born with some rather scarey medical
problems: one lung was not inflated, he quickly developed an
infection, and neither of his kidneys is functional.
The doctors got the lung re-inflated and the infection is responding
nicely to antibiotics, but he will be dependent on dialysis for quite
a few years -- until he is big enough and old enough to have a kidney
transplant.
Prayers for Zach and his loving and rather overwhelmed parents (this
is their first-born) would be greatly appreciated.

Hugs to all!

Fingers crossed. I'm trying to think of something comforting to
say, but nothing is coming -- sometimes, Life just hands out a
stinker.

I wish him well, as well as can be.
If this happened in my country (and I'm not from the u.s.) the parents would be
suing the hospital for not detecting that some things were wrong before the birth.
(also in my country, the lawsuit would take 18 years and they would probably lose.
be glad you don't live here)
