i've had great ideas for stories that could easily become novel-length
extravaganzas, if cultivated... is it sheer unadulterated laziness that
prvents me from actually writing them?

Maybe it's laziness, but maybe you are worried about screwing it up.
Sometimes that keeps me from doing stuff.

Television indeed could be the mindkiller, but would it ruin everything if I
told you that television has inspired some thought in me from time to time?
If nothing else it has made me see how far we have fallen culturally
speaking, then again the internet has showed me the same thing.

Write em up! If they don't sell when you shop them around, self-publish.
Local shops would scoop 'em up for sure. Sell it on the 'net of course, you
could even sell them on a horse! A horse? Of course! (well, that
deteriorated nicely). I don't know what genre you scribble in, but check
out the Horror Writers Association website, I found it one of the best
writers collectives out there. If that is not for you, I am sure there are

i was thinking about producing something that could be sold to a magazine.
you understand, something which could be published.
"Dave from Geelong" is a Melbourne stereotype; he's a young man in his
mid-twenties who isn't terribly bright but can fix cars with his eyes
closed. he likes beer, girls, "Cold Chisel" and driving cars too fast on a
saturday night. one night he gets kidnapped by aliens and used as a
replacement for their starship's navigational system.
