Book: Elie Wiesel-Messenger for Peace. by Heather Lehr Wagner?

I just got done reading an autobiography on Elie Wiesel titled "Modern Peacemakers-Elie Wiesel-Messenger for Peace" by Heather Lehr Wagner. well, in all honesty, I only read HALF of the book because it was so boring. Which stinks cause it was a $30 book. It looked like it would be interesting, but it wasn't.

If anyone has read this book, maybe you can help me understand a few things...
First, What makes Elie Wiesel worthy of having been given a Nobel Peace Prize (in 1986)? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm curious. I really don't want to finish the book, because well, if it hasn't stated why by the halfway mark, i'm like what the heck?

Also, in this book there is NO introductory or preface, so I don't know why Heather would want to write a biography about him.

If someone could give me any information on these two questions, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!
