Greetings all from Australia...

That out of the way, I thought I'd better say a formal hello and introduce
myself.

I'm guessing you already know I'm rather opinionated, although I do try not
to be rude or nasty.

Short bio follows:
I used to post here occasionally as CallaLily/callalily/CallaLilly - so if
you remember me, HI!
I'm a mum with 2 kids I do talk about a lot. Amee is 16 now and Arthur is 9.
I used to live in Melbourne, Victoria (almost the Bottom of Australia,
certainly the bottom East State on the Continent).
I moved to Toowoomba, Queensland (1668kms away) in January this year to
escape depression, shitty marriage, life etc etc etc.

and I read.
I read all the time. If I am not reading online, I'm reading anything I can
put my hands on. My reading material is ecletic to say the least. I don't
throw away ANY novels I have bought. From school required texts, my first
book I ever bought for myself... to now. I don't read trashy romances,
although I can write them Wink
I collect Anne Rice, Stephen King, Georgia Blain, Dean Koontz, obscure
Australian authors, Terry Pratchett and anything DECENT on real life crime
stories.
I do have a penchant for the macabre and my favorite online reading spot is
www.crimelibrary.com

I have three cats - Smokey who is 8 yrs (male), Gremlin who is almost 3 yrs
(female) and her son/daughter (this one is confusing, I'm waiting for her to
be sexed by the Vet) Illusion.

anything else, ask me!!

Tamara

mmmm Poe *drool*

Thankee very much for the wonderful welcome.

I haven't read much of Jack Higgins or Frederick Forsythe, although my
mother does have the full collection of both authors. I think I may have
read one of each - I'm pretty sure, but as my taste runs more to
thriller/horror/death (*grin*) it may be a while before I do.

I do love Anne Rice. My first venture into her world was in the early '90's
and The Witching Hour. I fell totally in love. Couldn't wait for the next
two installments. I am not sure if it was the story, such a epic, or these
women with their glorious red hair and wanton sexuality. Maybe the role they
played in strong females, witchcraft.. heh I'm not sure. I loved the
unravelling of the Talamasca and their motto.

I know that in other parts of this forum, people have discussed the various
"real" secret organistions like the Masons, Knights Templar etc etc and it
would be fascinating to know if the Talamasca did exist...but, being the
cynic I am, I realise that it's Anne's own amazing imagination that has made
it so real to us all.

Tamara (and yes, I *am* opinionated Smile )

*laughter* have read all three.

Read Bram Stoker in high school! (which is well over 20 years ago now)

and Poe, and Lovecraft. Have most of their anthologies too.
