Paycheck was good. loosely based on the short story. In the short story
he wants to come back to take power in the company. Not so in the movie.
The short story has a surprize at the end (as do all pkd's) with the time
scoop. Still cool..

I always figured that the short story was a comedy, lighter than the rest
of the stuff PhKD wrote. (I can almost hear the muted trumpet at the end:
WAH WAH WAH WAH WAHHHH.)

I have the short story somewhere - question is, do I read it before or
after seeing the film?

The critics seem not to like the film. Jonathon Ross was totally scathing
about it. However, Critics do make mistakes. Although Bladerunner wasn't
a very accurate translation of DADOES, it is a good film, and good well
slammed on it's release.

So I'll go and watch the film expecting little, so I'm not dissappointed
if the critics are right.

I'd say read the story first, just because that means less of your life
where you weren't familiar with the story! I mean... those are precious
days where you HADN'T read some PKD. Those are wasted days, as far as
I'm concerned! Smile
PS: I haven't read the story or seen the movie. Too busy trying to
finish "Quicksilver" by N. Stephenson. That fucker's a fat assed book.
