After yrs of Anne's books I got so I really loved the big historical fiction
books & fantasy of some kind. I discovered Diana Gavaldon. She wrote a
series of HUGE books, starting with Outlander, which are about time travel
back into the Scottish Highlands in the 1700s. I got hooked on those books
just like those of Rice. Now I'm waiting for the last one which is going to
be a smaller book revolving around a minor character. I guess Ms. Gavaldon
has also run out of gas with Jamie & crew. I'm so disappointed, but will
continue to read until there is no more, probably of either writer. I just
get obsessed! And also HAVE to read the next one. I do suggest the about
series though. Time travel also has it's charms. Can anyone recommend
another writer of TT books?
Thanks,
Bev >> Stay informed about: Anyone read Outlander series? |

Bev,
If you like reading books about time travel, try Timeline by Michael
Crichton. I loved, loved, loved that book.
Recently I saw the movie and while it was very good and held to the
book for the most part, tons of scenes were left out. I think they had
to cut scenes in order to keep the film moving long, keep production
costs below the stratosphere, and make the running time reasonable,
but the book was really outstanding.
Take care,
Ashe

I read Timeline back when it first came out too. I also really liked
this book, as time travel/quantum physics fascinates me. I enjoyed the
movie too. I kept tyring to figure out where I had seen that Scottish
actor (the young good-lookin' one) before. He looked so familiar.
Another book that I LOVE is Dean Koontz, "From the Corner of His Eye",
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book.

Bev, I just found this site through searching for something on The Outlander series. I find it fascinating that someone who loved Anne Rice's books also loved The Outlander - oh my gosh!!! I love them too. Although I have to say that Anne Rice has fallen out of favor with me. I feel that her last 5 books or so just don't have the quality of her earliest books. Enough already - there is too much repitition. the Vampire trilogy was so rich with metaphors and beautiful language - it made being a vampire seem erotic.
Anyway, enough about AR - I love the Outlander series, can't wait to get the next volume and will be sad when its over - After all, Jamie and Claire can't live forever!!! Jamie has definitely ruined me for all other men!!!! lol >> Stay informed about: Anyone read Outlander series? |
