Marcus du Sautoy's 'The Music of the Primes' which was a tremendous read and
had me digging out John Hunter's book on Number Theory which I last read
forty years ago.

Next I have Mark Urban's 'Rifles' which I expect to be the true story of
Sharpe and Andrew Parker's 'In the blink of an eye' to explain the Cambrian
explosion.

Was it you, Douglas, who recommended Bryan Magee's _The
Tristan Chord_ to me hereon and not too long ago? I've just
recently finished it and it was a Wow! on all counts.

I dont remember the title 'The Tristan Chord' but his book on Wagner and the
Philosophers is a good read. But his early autobiography (not to be confused
with his new one) is brilliant at exposing Oxford philosophy as being so
inferior to contemporary European philosophy which asked the big questions.
I loved it.

The European title was 'Wagner and Philosophy' I think.

Here it's titled _The Tristan Chord: Wagner and Philosophy_.
There is an earlier book titled _Aspects of Wagner_.
