I LOVE Patricia Briggs. In fact, they have just re-released much of
her backlist and i picked them up at Barnes & Noble immediately. Do
be sure to read Dragon Bones and Dragon Blood. I think they are my
favorites.

Actually, I rather liked The Queen's Bastard. However, her
The Negotiator books I fell out of 1/2 way through the first.

Really? I just could not enjoy The Queen's Bastard at all.
When I realized the depth of my non-enjoyment, I stopped
reading. Anti-enjoyment, in fact.

I've read the first two Negotiator books. Not as good as
the 'Walker Papers', but readable. The first was better
than the second, I think.

We're mirroring each other!

I liked CE Murphy's first books better than Patricia
Briggs's (ack, s or no s?), but Ms Briggs is proving more
reliably good.

I have, temporarily, got a nearby pile of most of the "to be
read next" issues -- one for each magazine subscription.
So, the oldest unread Nat'l Geo, the oldest unread
Economist, the oldest unread... actually, at that point the
titles start getting a little job-specific. Unusually well
organized of me.

The *rest* of the unread magazines are stashed hither and yon.

The Queen's Bastard has a decidedly dark, erotic bent to it.

Alas, I sometimes like that in my reading. It's not for everyone.

Hmmm, I do stack up my unread magazines. Read magazines either get
filed or recycled.

Of course, "reading" many of my magazines means flipping through them
going, "Gods, is that hideous" and then recycling them. I only do
fluffy magazines.

Most of my magazines are glossy. Smile
Or does Fluffy have magazines?
If so, are the perfume ads 'innerscents'?

I did fluffy magazines. Got caught by a telephone salesperson when I
was young and stupid, and wound up paying for a bunch of fluffy
magazines for yyyyyyyeeears. Cured me of a small spot of stupidity,
at any rate.

There are only so many articles on This Year's Trendy Eyeliner Colors
one can read before giving up on the entire makeup industry. :>

Although, come to think of it, most people would give up on articles
entitled: "Transactions are Tomorrow's Loads and Stores" or "The
Collaborative Organization of Knowledge" one heck of a lot faster than
they gave up on eyeliner color articles.

I've been known to enjoy dark and erotic reading, as well. I think it
was the lack of humor that killed my interest. The 'Walker Papers'
had a heroine who seemed to be trying to enjoy life -- at least, where
possible in between the invading gods and ending of the world dangers.

(Ok, I do have my limits in that genre. I gave up on Laurell K
Hamilton quite a few books ago. Mostly as an objection to the
increasing absence of plot.)

Eh. One of those mysteries of reading. If everyone liked the same
novels, we'd truly be in a boring world, right? My unhappiness was
nothing that reading "Bonk" by Mary Roach couldn't cure. :>

I really need to check her books out more. I know I keep saying that. I
guess I'm hoping that if I say it enough, I'll actually remember to do so
the next time I go to a bookstore. {SMILE}

I've never tried Murphy to the best of my knowledge. What's he or she

Now there's an idea. If I'd thought of doing that with the VCR box, we
wouldn't have had a problem with it. Unfortunately, we didn't realize how
heavy it would be until it was full and we tried to lift it off the bed.
