Well, after almost 6 months of trials and tribulations, we've finally
got settled for a bit and I've managed to figure out how to get the
news groups again.

even after dumping over 200K messages across the groups, I still have
a bunch to read....

Salud!

Humph!
And no excuse slip.
Tardy, to boot.
Go sit over in the corner and read messages until you're all caught up!

Actually, I won't be as up on the groups now...with the move to St
Louis, I've embarked on a new job in an Urgent Care Center...where the
pace is such that sitting and reading the groups while on duty is
impossible...and with my wife here in St Louis with me, spending
excessive time on the computer is NOT GOOD...esp since her computer is
still down in Louisiana...so we have to share.

nonetheless...I will see what I can do.

yep...sort of...KATRINA dumped a load of folks on our little town in
western Louisiana, and the ED became their primary care center...then
RITA came calling, and our hospital was the last one still open as you
went south on US 171...

Then I met with some folks when I came up to St Louis for a board
review course, and got a new job here in St Louis, which Ma Cherie
claims as her home.

Then there was an extra delay in getting approval for me to start,
which cost me two weeks pay...

Then I turned out to be allergic to Missouri, just like Ma Cherie is
allergic to Louisiana...

Things are finally settling down now, and I am seeing my share of up
to 100 patients per shift...or about 3 times what we were seeing in 24
hours down there, packed into 12 hours (with generally 8 hours of
double docs) here.

yep...we tripled our through put (up to 90 patients in 24 hours,
limited more by bed space than anything else)...the fun part is that
the facility I am working at now does that much work in 12 hours!

no...for her, we're not sure what all was the problem, but even with
the ac chilling enough to dry my sinuses out, she was still having
problems...and during the cold months, she was freezing when I was
running around in shorts, so extra heaters didn't help much.

(sorry, should have read 'double coverage on doctors' (two doctors on
for most of the shift) rather than indicating that the doctor had two
degrees.

odd...how hot or dry is it in your neck of the woods? one of our
border collie mixes does that to the point of leaving a racing stripe
down his spine when he's heat stressed.

ah...go for it...my family is divided into educators, health
professionals, and restaurateurs/caterers...

Stand-alone UC facility, or part of one of the major hospitals? One
reason for the curiosity was that for a while my sister (who now lives
in New Orleans...and yes, she's back and the house was never flooded)
was a social worker at (IIRC) Barnes.

working with the folks at St Anthony's in South County right now...we
mostly refer to the folks at SLU for 'obvious' reasons...
