It's the first of the month, so I thought I'd check up on everyone again.
Whatch'all reading right now?

I've put The Stand on hold... Hey, I didn't want to, alright?! But the damn
Harry Potter book I got for my birthday was burning a hole in my bookcase!
I tried reading the two books at the same time, but that rarely works...you
always end up choosing one and running with it.. I'll be done Harry in a
few days, and then go back to The Stand (which is exceptional, to those who
haven't read it). Got about 350 pages left and I can't even IMAGINE how it
ends. I hope the good guys win...but then, the bad guys aren't all bad...
hm.

Mysteron Agent - as always, in love with Snape.

I am currently reading The Master And Margarita by Mikael Bulgakov which was
sent to me by a friend at the other end of the country as part of our book
exchange program. I sent her the autobiography of Klau Kinski in return. M&M
is a bit heavy going at times but I am really enjoying it on the whole.

Falling Angel by William Hjortsberg

Its the book on which "Angel Heart" was based....detective noir meets
voodoo in the US Deep South. It's a fantastic book. Seek it out and
devour it folks.

I'm reading "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", as well. My two
sons challenged me to read the Harry Potter books this summer, and I've
found them to be better than I originally thought they would be. I've read
them all right in a row, and I like the fact that things are getting darker.
I'm only about 200 pages in to this most recent one.

'The Suiting' by Kelly Lynch, a new canadian author. I've been seeking out
female canadian (preferably Ontarian) horror authors. Tried Susan Molony,
yuk.

'Guildenstern and Rosenkrantz are Dead' by Tom Stoppard, a play, very funny.

Also, I have Weaveworld on the docket again. Halfway through in two days,
yippee.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

get a job and start paying rent before I kick him out.

OH dear god, I've gotten so behind in my reading. It's a shame.
I'm still reading The Gangs Of New York. The true story that inspired the
movie. It's really very interesting.
I've also got piled up on the shelf next to my bed:

Stranger in a Strange Land - Robert Heinlein.
This is the only book of his I haven't been able to get through. Oh there's
that other one that I threw down because it sucks. The rich guy paid to get
put into his secretary's body who is a female. Crap book. I can't even
remember the name. Anyway.

Abarat - Clivey-wivey.
I suck.

Carrion Comfort - Dan Simmons
I love this freeking book.

Jack the Ripper Case Closed portrait of a killer or something.
The "true story" of Jack the Ripper.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Cos I wanted to refresh my brain before I read book 5....but it doesn't look
like I'm making any headway on this.

I start a lot of books because sometimes I feel like a true story ,
sometimes I feel like a little bit of horror, sometimes I feel like easy
reading...
you know, I can't make up my mind lately.

Wink

so that's me. Undecided.

I just finished "Dracula Was a Woman" by Raymond McNally and am in the middle
of "Alone of All Her Sex" by Marina Warner, with divings into several other
nonfiction books.

I don't read much fiction these days, especially since I'm doing research for a
book I'm writing.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Been kinda busy and haven't been reading much... but I am (slowly)
working on Otherland Volume II: River of Blue Fire, by Tad Williams.
Excellent epic cyber-conspiracy sci-fi, with a cool plot and excellently
fleshed-out characters.

Yeah! That's a quality play... although it's "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
are Dead" *puts on special pedantic trousers : ) Have you seen the film?

Hey Draxie,
I've about 100 pages to go, and it gets even better. I, too, have enjoyed
the fact that, from the start, the book's had a much darker tone to it than
its predecessors. Very cool.
I'm DREADING the end.....I just have a bad feeling about it...
I've not read any reviews of the book, so if anyone knows how it ends and
I'm wrong, don't tell me!!!
lol
