im not sure how other locations fare but here in the easter hemisphere
of the world.its so hard to complete all the historical (yet
entertaining!!) tomes written by that great author raymond feist. i
have read everything up to the last book of the serpentwar saga. now, i
found out that i have been missing a lot! i so wish there was a way to
get copies of such books in sets so that i won't have to find each one.
anyhoo, i hear that raymond does check the newgroups once in a while.
just thought id sa thanks for everything. just like macros the black, i
wish i live long enough to collect all the books! keep 'em coming, ray!
you have entertained a lot of people and i dont easily impress.
honors to your house! >> Stay informed about: silverthorn is a tough one to find here |

It is certainly in print in the UK... I don't know where you live so I
don't know if its in print where you are.

It's in print everywhere in the English speaking world. It can be
ordered from any US, UK, Australian, NZ, etc. bookstore. Amazon.com
has it.
All it takes is a minute to enquire at the cashwrap. I'm always amazed
at the number of people who will look at the shelf, but never talk to
the clerks.

What, talk to a clerk? Are you mad, that requires me to socially
interact with someone. Leave me to my manuscripts, wood shake in
Montana, and my mailing job..
I'm complete kidding of course.

There was a clerk at a role-playing store I used to go to who would yell ay
browsing customers for not asking him about specific products they were
looking for. I found it laughable, as he had an immense amount of unused
floor space, and almost no product to cover it. Plus, he sat on this behind
this counter that was two feet above the floor of the store, giving off an
imposing feeling. However, that was a specialty store, and every bookstore
I've been to in Canada has every book from Magician to the King of Foxes.
There seem to be new printings out for all the old ones, I've been batting
around the idea of picking them up to have a matching set that isn't quite
as worn out!

perhaps, most of the english speaking world. not here in the
philippines. 'tis hard to get the books that you want. if that is the
case then i guess ill have to settle for ordering outside my hemisphere.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: silverthorn is a tough one to find here |

i've asked numerous stores from the large ones to the more specialized
ones. apparently, my quest is for naught. <!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: silverthorn is a tough one to find here |

Ah! Now I understand your problem. The Phillippines is (for the sake
of contracts) not considered "the English speaking world," or rather
it's considered an English language "open market," which means both the
US publisher and the UK publisher are free to sell books . That can
create problems. But you can still order the book on-line. The only
rights deal I could have in the Philippines would be if someone there
wanted to publish it in Tagalog, Ilocano, Maranao, Bicolano, or any of
the other 165 recognized languages of the Islands. Given 52% of the
population is fluent in English, I don't get a lot of calls from PI
Publishers. <G>

Well, back when I started reading Raymond's books, I lived in a small town
in Finland with only one bookstore. I became quite good friends with the
owners, since I was practically their only client who never looked at the
shelves but walked directly to the counter and gave them a list of ten new
(english language) titles that I was looking for. Sometimes it took them
two months to get the titles that I was looking for, but they always did,
in the end.
BTW: never read the translations, if you just can help it. They always
lose some (usually a lot) of the author's voice.

well, if i were to translate it to the local language(s) that would
certainly be a toughie. plus put make the purse strings catch fire!
well, i doubt that any of the local publishers would be contacting you
since what we have here is just a niche market for such items. its like
selling scented quegan fireoil to the quegans if you know what i mean.
he he he he
mind if i ask. on the www.raymondfeistbooks.com website, why isnt the
riftwar books not shown? im not sure how to find the exact versions im
looking for because they all have different covers. i checked
www.crydee.com and amazingly enough the covers i have for magician:

well, i look at both shelf and the people behind the counters and spent
a good deal talking and commuting around the capital scouring for such
books. very tough, if i may say so. im as tired as a dead horse here as
im writing this.
i agree with translations. i grew up with english in my tongue rather
than the local language so i read english with ease but the local
language when read does put doubt in my mind even if i speak it
fluently. ironic isnt it? >> Stay informed about: silverthorn is a tough one to find here |

That site is actually just part of the Morrow/Avon site, my current US
publisher. The Riftwar was published by Bantam/Doubleday/Dell before I
moved to Morrow/Avon.
My "semi-official" website is <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.crydee.com." target="_blank">www.crydee.com.</a>

Many people in former colonial nations face the same issue, French in
West Africa, Dutch in Indonesia, English all over the place. About the
only place it's less obvious is Latin America, because the Spanish for
a couple of hundred years crushed local languages as part of their
colonial policy, and yet you still hear native dialects all over the
place once you get out of the big cities. Lots of Spanish speakers in
the PI, too.
