That might work, but the lake has to be there. It'll take a long time
for all that ice to melt.

Just for fun, I've read speculation that Greenland was actually two or
more islands. That'd support the "basin in the middle".

without water underlaying the ice i don't see it melting the way that
ice shelf did in antarctica so the formation of the lake would be
something we'd have some time to think over.

do you think we'd allow the ice jam to last long enough to let the
lake build up to catastropic levels? i'd hope the gov't of denmark
would take steps to deal with it well before that happened.

The weight of the continental glacier has depressed the middle. Take the
weight off and you get rebound.

Not right away. The area above the Great Lakes is still going up, and
it's been glacier free for thousands of years.

Which process is called rebound or was and it most likely did start right
away. It's just kind of slow.
