About 20 years ago aI read a story in a collection about Adam and Eve where
they eat the forbidden fruit, an angel is sent to punish them, they kick its
butt and take its flaming sword, God comes and questions them, they stand up
for themselves and God is happy.
In the same collection was a story about the Devil sitting in a park talking
to a guy (who doesn't know he's the devil) about how he was totally vilified
and cut off from any possible avenue of giving his side of the story or any
one believing him.
The whole collection had some great stories - but I can no longer find my
copy and can no longer recall the title.
Are these stories by Asimov or a collection edited by him?
If anyone recognizes these and could give me some clue as to the name or
authors it would be greatly appreciated.

Neither of them sound like an IA story - but I do have a faint
recollection of reading the second story you described. I also
don't remember any of the numerous anthologies of other authors'
SF stories that IA and Martin H. Greenberg collaborated on being
a "collection about Adam and Eve". Which is not to say that they
never put one out, just that I couldn't find it in a cursory look
in the lists at Ed Seiler's treasure trove:

Another good site for Asimovania is

The first one doesn't ring a bell, but the second one sounds very
familiar. I believe the title was "Channel Thirteen" or something
similar.
The devil starts a tv station in the UK (I think). It becomes so
hugely popular, that he is soon lamenting that he is so busy he
doesn't have time for any good, old-fashioned tormenting of souls.
I thing is may be a Robert Heinlein or Harlin Ellison story, but I
can't find it in any of the books I have. Could it be Ray Bradbury??
Maybe this will give someone a start.

I know neither was RAH, since I've read/reread every collected
story he ever wrote, and they don't sound like any of the "three
stinkers" that were never anthologized after first appearance.
Dunno about Ellison or Bradbury. Nothing in their early work,
certainly. But I haven't read anything by either in the last
20-30 years.
>Maybe this will give someone a start.
Forgot to recommend that the original poster try asking in
rec.arts.sf.written. That group, for all its arguing over
things, is pretty good at providing answers to these "Does anyone
remember a story that went something like ..." questions.

I've had some luck on another board I think.
It was suggested that these stories may be in a compilation
titled 100 great fantasy short short stories
by Isaac Asimov, et al.
So now I'm trying to get a list of titles from this compilation
I'll also ask over in rec.arts.sf.written.
Thanks

The name of the story is DISPLACED PERSON by Eric Frank Russell. The
devil is sitting on a park bench and starts to talk to another man who
assumes the devil is a displaced person from Europe. The second to the last
line has the man saying "My name, is Lucifer."
I have it in the book 100 hair-raising little Horror Stories by Al
Sarrantonio and Martin Greenberg.
It first appeared in Weird Tales 1948

The Asimov connection is that it appeared in MICROCOSMIC TALES, edited
by Asimov, Greenberg and Olander, in 1980.

*That's* where I read it. I bought that one when it came out in
PB, as I did many of the non-Asimov Asimov/Greenberg anthologies.
But the first story Abraxas described still doesn't ring any
bells. If it was in Microcosmic Tales, I must have skipped over
it somehow, because even if I hadn't liked it, Abraxas's
description of it would have jiggled the memory enough to
remember it, as with the other one.
