Looking for a story in particular

Hello Group,

I am trying to remember where I read this story, and hope I can find it
again. I'll give you what I remember and see if anyone can help me.

The story is about an old woman who is hosting a ball and wants to invite
Death to it. I don't know when or where it is set, but I believe a
character, military type guy, talking about death striding through his army
on a large black horse. I think there are other accounts of what people say
Death looks like, as well.

The old woman sends invitations out with doctors or something, so that when
they next see Death they can pass it on. I also remember Death does show up
in the guise of a young woman. I don't remember how it ends or where I read
it, except that it was probably in school, which would be 80's to 90's.

Wow, guess I should have done a little more research before I asked... I
found it myself. It is called Come Lady Death, by Peter S. Beagle.
