Put one word after another. Make sure that the sentences so
constructed are telling the story of your own life.
Or is that not what you meant?

On the outside chance that your response was meant to be helpful, no that is
not what I meant. Since this is a "book" newsgroup, I assumed it would be
obvious that I was looking for a book suggestion. I guess it was not so
obvious.

But an *autobiography* is a story of the writer's life by the writer.
So an autobiography by you has to be about your life.
On the other hand you could be considering a ghosted autobiography,
where the subject's story is "as told to" you or "with the assistance
of" and your name. In most cases any well known person will want the
ghost writer to have produced several books before. This kind of
writing gives you no personal publicity, and is a hard way to make a
living as a writer.
I am trying to be helpful. so perhaps the lack of response from others
indicates the problem you are having.

Why are you even bothering to respond with such derogatory dribble?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: any suggestions on, How to write a autobiography? |

I've recently completed my own autobiography, "The Redneck
Chronicles", that you might like to take a look at. The paperback
won't be out for a month or so, but in the meantime you can read it
online at www.brentbasham.com. Also, a few things you might want to
consider:
- Make it interesting. Putting some kind of unique spin on the book
might help it be more enjoyable to your readers.
- Spend plenty of time on your outline. This will help you gather and
organize you thoughts before you start the actual writing process. It
helped me tremendously.
- If possible, flip through your old family albums. This can be an
invaluable source of inspiration and brainstorming.
Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me (wesleybasham@hotmail.com) if
you have questions. >> Stay informed about: any suggestions on, How to write a autobiography? |

Wow, Brent thanks for the advice and especially for sharing your work. I
downloaded your story late last night and I about halfway thought it now and
it is very entertaining to say the least. In my opinion you did a great job
and I would guess it was very much a labor of love. I am sure I'll have a
few (how to questions) once I finish reading you story.
Again thanks very much, and for anyone else who has not read Brent's
autobiography, "The Redneck Chronicles", I would highly recommend doing so. >> Stay informed about: any suggestions on, How to write a autobiography? |
