You know, I remember reading X-Men comics in the nineties. The titles
I remember were
X-Men
Uncanny X-Men
Excalibur
X-Force
X-Factor
Generation X
Wolverine
Cable
Alpha Flight
X-Men Unlimited
I just looked at
www.uncannyxmen.net and I see that the current X-Men
titles are
X-Men
Uncanny X-Men
Excalibur
X-Force
Astonishing X-Men
New X-Men: Academy X
Wolverine
Cable & Deadpool
Madrox
Mystique
Jubilee
Emma Frost
Rogue
Alpha Flight
X-Men Unlimited
Weapon X
Exiles
X-Statix
Back in the nineties, the New X-Men had been spread over three titles,
X-Men, Uncanny X-Men and Excalibur. Nowadays, the same characters
(more or less) are appearing in X-Men, Uncanny X-Men and Astonishing
X-Men. Oh and for those who liked X-Factor and Generation X, Madrox,
Mystique, Jubilee and Emma Frost all either have or will be getting
their own series. So a lot of the old characters and titles are still
around, although some of the characters from the nineties are now
dead.
Back in the nineties, there were a lot of crossovers. Marvel wanted
people to buy all the X-titles (or all the Spiderman titles or all the
Avengers related titles). Now this approach seems to have been
abandoned and they are just trying to get people to either pick up
regular issues or wait for them to be collected as trade paperbacks.
Personally, if I could get comics where I am, I wouldn't mind picking
up the new Jubilee series. I have a lot of responsibilities now and I
don't have the "disposable" income I had back when I was a university
student so I am not interested in spending a lot of money or getting
to know a lot of new characters.
