Hey all, my brain is totally gone! Who can remind me what the title is
for Childe Morgan II? I *know* I know it, but I can't remember it!
Arrrghhh! It's been a rough week-- running my regular library classes
*and* a book fair for those classes all at hte same time with too few
parent volunteers...
***********
blessed be, Julianne

"plant" is Welsh for child.
I'd guess that Childe Morgan is a sort of homage to Childe Roland, who "to
the dark tower came" - a dreadful warning to those who would play ball
games in church yards! (For those unfamiliar, one of the characters in
this epic poem threw a ball over a church and made the terrible mistake of
running round the church widdershins to collect it - and was promptly
taken off to Fairyland)

Childe is archaic English for "young knight."

thanks for the response.
does that imply our modern word 'child' is derived from "young knight"?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Dictionary says CHILDE is a youth of noble birth. And given that
royalty back then tended to sow numberous seeds so to speak, this
could apply to us all.(almost said "wild oates" but oates aren't that
wild and also that would of got into Kelson and his horse which is a
scary thought.)

Of course the dictionary also comments that CHILD is archaic form for
a female infant
