am i the only on in this group who has a great dis-like for wolverine, aka
logan, aka james?
1. I mean he had or has a bunch of women in his lives whom he loved very
much and he has to mope around with "woe is me" bullshit.
2. He use to depend alot on his adamantium laced skeleton and claws, until
magneto ripped them from his arrogant cocky ass.
its really bad enough the first two x-men movies kinda surrounded him, i
think marvel should have had them named the movie "Wolverine: featuring the
x-men"
As you can guessed he's my least favorite x-men >> Stay informed about: umm wolverine? |

Probably not. I like him when he's written well. Unfortunately, those times are
few and far between.

Wolverine doesn't mope... he broods.

I guess it's a good thing he got it back then.

Like BlackGard, I like Wolverine when he's well written. The
Claremont "fallen samurai"/veteran espionage agent was interesting.
The little psycho who forgets that he's got decades of espionage
experience and acts like a barroom brawler is not.

Wolverine hasn't been well written since the Claremont/Byrne issues (and a
few after that).
Yeah yeah I know it sounds like a cliché.

About 4 years ago (Wolverine #145)... Apocalypse gave it back to him when
Wolverine became his horseman Death.

Wolverine has been my least favorite X-Man for a while now, because he
oversaturates Marvel comics. As others pointed out, his appearances aren't
well written.
Wolverine is too much of a cash cow for Marvel, but I'd certainly like to
see him disappear for a while and then reappear somehow radically different,
but still recognizeable as his old self.
I agree that this 70 to 80-year-old man should stop the bar room brawling
and grow up a bit. He's been around advanced Japanese culture and served in
wars. He should be a well-rounded personality with a penchant for stories
recognizing ploys miles ahead of everyone else. Wolverine should be a really
classy guy, with lots of little snipes and wry smiles here and there.
Maybe he should be a leader at some point so that we may gain a different
perspective of him at some point?

I don't really see him as a classy guy, nor do I see a reason why a man like
Logan would stop barrom brawling. These two things would ruin his character,
imo.

This would be great.

I think Wolverine is way too overused in all of the X-books.Don't get
me wrong,I think he's an interesting character, but lately he's
reached near god-like staus with uncanny abilty to be in four or five
places at one time (not to mention on the cover of any thing remotely
related to the X-franchise).I guess my problem is this:How can
talented writers with access to the untapped wealth of characters in
the X-books get so enthralled with making this franchise into "Wolvie
and his mutant friends"?I know.I know.Marketing right?I find
impossible to believe that a long running (don't forget top
selling)series can spawn the kind of success "X-men" has solely on the
strength of one (admittedly cool but overused) character. But then
again, he is the best he is at what he does.......Make the cover of
Wizard every other month. >> Stay informed about: umm wolverine? |

He already was, temporarily. Storm had to leave the X-Men on personal
business (regaining her powers), and left him in charge.

Yeah. I wish he was the leader more often. It makes more since than Rogue or
Havok ever being leaders.

I don't dislike him, but he's never been my favorite. For dislike,
you'd have to go to Gambit and Rogue. Wolverine is just a little too
good at everything for my tastes. Kind of boring, really.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: umm wolverine? |

I've been liking Greg Rucka's take on him. Of course, that's about to
end. Millar, who I typically like, will be taking over, but Millar
didn't impress me on ULTIMATE X-MEN, so I don't know what I'll like his
take on Wolverine in his own book.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: umm wolverine? |

I agree. On top of that, he doesn't really remember much of the last
100+ years of his life - or, at best, he can't tell for sure what is
real and what is a memory implant. If your life long experiences are
bar room brawls, you're hardly likely to become "well-rounded". (Of
course, he is well-rounded, but he's not often written to show it off.)<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: umm wolverine? |

It's more that I find nothing interesting or entertaining about "espionage
Wolverine", "samurai Wolverine", "Wolverine in search of/haunted by his
past", "Wolverine the wise old man/mentor to some young girl", "Wolverine's
man-beast inner conflict", "Wolverine as cocky brawler", "brooding
Wolverine", "compulsively insubordinate Wolverine", "Wolverine the hairy
little bastard who somehow arouses women's animal lust", etc., so whenever
Wolverine is shoehorned into a story, it comes at the expense of something
that did have the potential to be interesting/entertaining, which, given his
massive overexposure, has led me to resent his existence. *
